Alec Hunter's First Cricket Win in 5 Years
22nd May 2009
On Monday the 18th May 2009, Alec Hunter visited Witham Cricket Club to play the Maltings Academy (formerly John Bramston School). With a limited overs game in prospect and some of the boys never having played Cricket for the College before, the mood was nervous.
But with a great start from Josh Wotton the run rate soon rose. The moment to note was Ryan Vickery (Year 8) and Thom Scotting (Captain) making a great partnership of 60 before having to retire (you have to retire when you reach 30 runs). After reaching a great total of 133 for 4 after 16 overs, Maltings came into bat. Alec then showed their dominance by keepingto the first rule of schoolboy Cricket, just bowl at the wickets.
Wicket after wicket fell with only a few extras given and not long later the 16 overs were finished with the Maltings Academy only reaching 91.
Congratulations to Alec Hunter on their first win!!
