Real Madrid’s cup exit

Last night European giants Real Madrid were knocked out of the Champion’s League by French champions Lyon. Real Madrid were without a doubt one of this year’s favourites to win glory in the Champion’s League this year with worldwide stars like Kaká, Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and the Champions League’s top scorer Rául.

The first leg took part in France were Lyon took advantage of a home game when Lyon midfielder Jean Makoun hit a stunning strike past Spanish number one Iker Casillas just minutes after half time to give the French side a one goal advantage going to the Santiago Bernabѐu in Spain.

The second leg kicked off at break neck speed when the £80 million magician Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock seven minutes in. Madrid held on to the one goal lead until the 75 minute when the Yugoslavian midfielder Miralem Pjanic scored a bullet of a volley to leave it all square on the night but sent Lyon through on aggregate knocking out the Spanish high flyers.
