Student Care
• The Tutor is the first point of contact for parents
• Tutors, Achievement Co-ordinators, Pastoral Leaders and Subject Teachers are always available, by appointment, to talk to parents
• Tutors, Achievement Co-ordinators and Pastoral Leaders are available at Student/Parent/Tutor Consultation Days for their Year Group
• Appointments may be made with subject teachers to discuss individual progress
• Students are taught in sets or mixed-ability groups according to the subject
• The College population is divided into five Year Groups
• Students will usually stay with their Tutor and Tutor Group throughout their five years at Alec Hunter
• Tutors, Achievement Co-ordinators and Pastoral Leaders seek to involve each student in the life of the Year Group, whether it be in charity activities, assemblies or some other productive way
• Merits are awarded to students for effort, sustained achievement, contribution to the College community and for consistently following the Positive Behaviour Programme
• Commendation certificates are awarded to students for progress, improvement and regular attendance
• Citizenship Certificates are awarded for contribution to college and to the local community
• Termly Celebration Assemblies, to which parents are invited, recognise a range of student achievement
• Students meet with a mentor on a regular basis to discuss learning targets and how to develop their learning
