Red Cross
Alec Hunter Humanities College are proud of our developing partnership with the Red Cross. The College has set up a steering group which has two students from each year group. The aim of the group is to raise awareness of the Red Cross within the College. They also organise fund raising events to raise money for the Red Cross and its initiatives. They have a meeting once a week with Mrs Artus. In addition to this the steering group do assemblies to increase the awareness of the Red Cross.
What have the Steering Group done?
Throughout January and February the Red Cross Steering grop have been visiting local primary schools. They have very successfully delivered a presentation on the British Red Crossand Alec Hunter's involvement.
Well Done to all Students involved
Organised Grandparents day.
- Held a Cake sale to raise money for the Red Cross
- Gone in to Assemblies too tell students about the Red Cross
- Organised Dawn Patrol.
What are the Steering Group working on?
- A Christmas Event for the elderly
- Setting up a “looking after children” course for students who want to baby-sit
What does the Red Cross do for the College?
The Red Cross provides First Aid Training to two students from each tutor group. They aretaught basic first aid. This is so if someone in their class needs first aid they can help them. Also they could provide first aid in the community if someone needed it.
