Able,Gifted and Talented Education
At Alec Hunter Humanities College we believe that all children are entitled to an education that will enable them to develop their full potential, be that intellectual, physical, aesthetic, creative, emotional, spiritual or social. We are committed to providing a sufficiently challenging curriculum for all our students, and with this in mind teachers are constantly reviewing their lessons.
In addition, we will provide opportunities to identify and, in turn nurture those who are ‘able, gifted and/or talented’ and their exceptional talents and abilities. These opportunities are provided by different curriculum areas and through our links with other secondary schools and Braintree College. These extra curricular activities give students the opportunity to work with others of a similar ability and encourages them to tackle complex problems in a friendly and supportive environment. Students who are recognised to be able, gifted and talented are invited to join an after school enrichment club where they work together on projects and activities of their own choice which help to develop their thinking and problem solving skills.
